Get Fit with Coach Ric
Get the body you need this summer with Coach Ric’s help!
Coach Ric is a fitness coach based in Pasig who works with athletes and celebrities. He shares helpful workouts on his YouTube channel and Instagram. And since summer 2025 is just around the corner, we invited him to Acienda Designer Outlet to teach us some exercises we can do anywhere to stay in shape.

But first…shopping! Coach Ric surprisingly loves “retail therapy”. His first stop was in New Era where he got excited with the selection of clothes and caps at discounted prices.

His second stop was in Vans Outlet where he bought his first pair of Vans – a gray Knu Skool, and accessories.

He also got a Power Spinning Bike from the USDS outlet! This is perfect for when he wants to go on a ride when it’s raining.

He also got accessories, and footwear from his favorite – Nike at 40% off!

After his mini-shopping spree, he showed us four exercises that we can do to stay in shape, those are:
1️ Squat Jumps (with dumbbells)
- ▪️ Hold a dumbbell in each hand by your side.
- ▪️ Lower yourself into a squat, keeping the dumbbell(s) as stable as possible.
- ▪️ Pause for a moment, before pushing yourself up out of the squat and into a jump.
- ▪️ Land softly by bending at the knees and lower yourself into a squat again, repeating the movement.
2️ Renegade Push Ups
- ▪️ Begin in a plank position with your hands on the floor and slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
- ▪️ Brace your abs, squeeze your glutes and keep your core tight throughout the exercise.
- ▪️ Keeping your body straight and rigid, begin to lower yourself towards the floor into a push up.
- ▪️ Grasp a pair of hex dumbbells (or kettlebells) and place them where your hands would normally go when performing a push-up.
- ▪️ Set yourself in a push-up position with arms straight. Palms facing each other. This is the starting position.
3️ Jump Rope
- ▪️ Grab a handle in each hand and start with the rope behind you, so it’s right at your heels. To get the rope moving, gently rotate your forearms forward and then your wrists to generate momentum and swing it overhead.
- ▪️ As the rope swings up overhead, bend your knees slightly. Once you see the rope pass your shins, jump by springing from your toes. Start slowly so you can master the timing of it. Once you get a few jumps down, you’ll know when to jump naturally.
- ▪️ Once you’re at a comfortable speed, your wrists can do all the work. Usually, there are bearings inside the handles that rotate the rope itself. This makes it easy to spin the rope with just your wrists.
- ▪️ As you hop, be sure to stay on the balls of your feet. This keeps you quick and nimble. Because your calves will get tired quickly, feel free to alternate hops. For example, alternate between each foot, hopping on one and then the other, and then both. This lets your calves rest a little longer.
4️ Mountain Climbers
- ▪️ Get into a plank position and distribute your weight evenly from your hands to your toes.
- ▪️ Check your form—your hands should be about shoulder-width apart, back flat, abs engaged, and head in alignment.
- ▪️ Pull your right knee into your chest as far as you can.
- ▪️ Switch legs, pulling one knee out and bringing the other knee in.
- ▪️ Keep your hips down and run your knees in and out as far and as fast as you can. Alternate inhaling and exhaling with each leg change.
These are the four exercises Coach Ric recommends for beginners who want to stay in shape.
